Personal Background

I have been working as a financial translator for over 24 years. During this time I have had the opportunity to work in-house at Goldman Sachs International and at RGFT (now CLS Communications / Lionbridge) in London.

Working directly within investment banking has enabled me to gain in-depth knowledge of how the financial markets and individual products work. Through internal training I have learnt what requirements there are in terms of compliance and how these requirements are best met when translating financial texts.

Most importantly, my work as a financial translator has shown me that there is always the need to develop and never stand still. Another essential part of my work is therefore to keep abreast of the latest sector and regulatory developments and how these shape the languages I work with.

I hold a 1st class MA degree in German and English Linguistics and Literature (University of Regensburg, Germany) and a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (University of York, England). Prior to working as a translator, I worked in higher education in England (University of Salford), where I was involved in researching, developing and teaching translation and interpreting courses (BA and MA level).
